Background:
: The purpose of the Bute Avenue Project was to connect Cardiff City Centre with the waterfront and included the creation of a mile long boulevard, Lloyd George Avenue, and a major new public open space, Callaghan Square. CBAT worked closely with the main contractor for the project, Norwest Holst, to create a number of significant artworks as part of the scheme.

Situated in Cardiff’s
Callaghan Square development the 10m high Water Towers by Amber Hiscott and
David Pearl, enclose water jets which sprout from a reflective pool. The piece
is lit with ground level spotlights creating a spectacular display of light
and colour enhancing this new public plaza. Amber Hiscott and David Pearl are
two of Wales’ best known artists specialising in structural glass, and
have worked on major projects throughout Wales and internationally. Projects
