One of the most interesting areas for artistic intervention is the water feature, located within the area of public open space. Designed by Soltys Brewster Consulting, the water feature is a shall water and decking area containing interesting waterside planting.
The commissioned artist will work closely with the Design Team, creating interventions into the water feature that will be sensitive to the immediate environment, and able to be enjoyed by both residents of the development and the public visiting the public open space.
Commission:
Howard Boycott often crosses over into landscape design, produing hard and soft landscaped works containing interesting and often surprising elements. He says,
"Increasingly my practice as a sculptor is spreading into design work in other areas, including landscape architecture, urban design and street furniture. Much of my sculpture is designed to have a striking initial presence and then reveal a more intimate aspect through careful attention to detailing. I work in a range of materials – slate, stone, wood and hand-made brick– but the connecting philosophy is an emphasis upon craftsmanship, human scale and tactile qualities."
